Goyer Talks Batman Sequels

By Garth Franklin Thursday November 11th 2004 11:06PM

During this past weekend's Wizard World convention in Dallas, screenwriter David Goyer was in attendance to talk his directorial debut with "Blade: Trinity" but a large part of his panel ended up covering "Batman Begins" which he wrote. Along with its current status, he ended up speaking about possible sequels according to Batman on Film.

Goyer says Director Chris Nolan is about three weeks away from finishing his first cut of the movie, saying "Chris is very intense and focused and very private and he's just locked away in the editing room. I can say that it's going to be the Batman film I'm sure any one of you always wished would have been made."

Now what about sequels? Goyer denied all the recent rumours on the Net, but did say "On one hand, we're really tempted not to do another one, to do the one and walk away. [Warner Brothers] are really interested in Chris doing another one. Chris won't even talk about it until he finishes this cut, so they're going to bring it up in January."

Goyer also confirms that plans for sequel story outlines were already made - "We definitely set it up and kind of provided Warner Bros. a rough plan of what the next three movies would be. So it's not like we'll do one and then figure on the next. There is a road map of what the next three movies would be and who the various characters would be."
