Some great pieces about the final post-production elements taking place right now for Oliver Stone's "Alexander" have emerged at Dreamworks Fansite from someone involved in the process. Amongst the new information revealed:
"Until last week the film was still in sound edit in London - this is the correct reason for the release delay in the States and not some of the half-baked suggestions we've all been reading. Oliver Stone worked very hard to get everything just right...particularly the two huge sets depicting a feast in an Indian palace and the indescribable Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
The only test screenings given previously were to Intermedia and Warner Execs in LA when the film at that point was a massive 3 hours 45 minutes long. As a result of that, Oliver went away and made some major changes, reducing it to 2 hours 53 minutes and even cutting out a couple of characters completely. The language is still very old-fashioned and focuses a great deal on mythology, in an attempt to anchor it firmly in that time. It has tried to be as accurate as possible."
Here's hoping that full 225 minute cut will make it onto DVD.
