Revolution's adaptation of playwright Jonathan Larson's "Rent" is becoming a reunion for many of the Tony-winning play's original cast members. Filmmakers want to lock in Taye Diggs, Jesse Martin, Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp and Idina Menzel to reprise their roles -- and are willing to lense around the actors' schedules to secure them according to Variety.
This strategy could make plans to fast-track the film for a spring shoot and holiday 2005 release a bit tougher. Currently two of the stars have TV and one play commitments.
Who producers would like to fill the roles of Mimi, initiated by Daphne Rubin-Vega, Joanne (Fredi Walker) and Angel (Wilson Jermaine Heredia) is not clear, though a few names are said to have been tossed around for Angel. Chris Columbus, who has been writing the script for the past several months, will direct.
Thanks to 'Lease'.
