"The Motorcycle Diaries" star Gael Garcia Bernal has signed on for Michel Gondry's new project, "The Science of Sleep" according to today's issue of trades paper The Hollywood Reporter.

The young heart throb rose to fame in "Y Tu Mama Tambien" and more recently has landed much acclaim for his roles as Ernesto "Che" Guevara in 'Motorcycle' (now in theatres) and as an abused ex-church boy turned transvestite in Pedro Almodovar's "The Bad Education" (opens November 19th).

Bernal will star alongside Charlotte Gainsbourg and Alain Chabat in "Sleep" which is currently in preproduction. Shooting is pegged to start by year's end in France and will continue through til mid-Spring.

Gondry, who most recently directed "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", penned the script which is currently being revised. The story is being kept under wraps, but it is known to switch back and forth from dreamlike sequences to reality.

Thanks to 'Chief'.
