Nicole Kidman yesterday signed on to co-star opposite Russell Crowe in a new $40 million romantic film to be shot in rural NSW and Sydney next year according to The Daily Telegraph.
It is the first time that the home-grown Academy Award winning actors will star together, let alone play romantic leads opposite each other on the big screen. Fellow Oscar recipient, Geoffrey Rush, will also co-star in Eucalyptus, a big screen adaptation of Murray Bail's famous novel of the same name.
One insider says that the deal has literally just happened - "Nicole has always said she has been on the look-out to come back and make a film in Australia with a good Australian story, a beautiful script and a great director".
