Guy Ritchie himself has denied reports that Crowe will play Dr. Watson in Ritchie's upcoming "Sherlock Holmes" feature.
Ritchie told Empire Online at the world premiere of "RocknRolla" that "I don't have a Watson...Somebody just told me that I have Russell Crowe lined up but that's news to me. I suspect that hasn't happened and I'm still looking for my Watson."
The film's producer Susan Downey was also in attendance and talked about how her husband Robert Downey Jr. was preparing - "He’s been practicing how he’s going to sound, how he’s going to look and he’s pretty excited. He’s going to get here in the middle of the month and he’s raring to get going."
Downey also revealed that the story will be completely new for the film, but various elelments from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's four novels and fifty-six short stories featuring the character will be incorporated.
