IGN Filmforce reports that the planned sequel to "Basic Instinct" has secured financing from German film fund IMF3. IMF and Intermedia will partner with C-2 Pictures to make the long-in-development sequel to the 1993 sex-and-slashing blockbuster. The budget will be in the $70+ million range.
Sharon Stone will reprise her role as femme fatale novelist Catherine Trammel, whilst casting of the male lead must take place before a start date can be scheduled by Director Michal Caton-Jones.
The site also reports that John Milius is currently in Turkey where he has secured full funding for "King Conan: Crown of Iron". If that's the case, that would mean Warner Brothers would only have to distribute the film rather than finance it. Milius is currently scouting locations in Turkey with some of Conan's private financiers. When filming might begin remains unclear.
