Oren Segal has optioned Lisa Lerner's debut dark comedy novel "Just Like Beauty" reports Variety.
Set in a dystopic future replete with a gang of blowtorchers, mutant grasshoppers and an underground suicide cult -- the story centers on 14-year-old Edie Stein, who competes in a beauty pageant to please her mother.
Nick Pustay ("Camille") will adapt. Segal is also producing a bigscreen adaptation of Michael Hornburg's novel "Downers Grove" which Bret Easton Ellis has been tapped to adapt.
