Spanish newspaper El Siglo Durango reports that Salma Hayek will portray Simon Bolivar's wife, Manuela Saenz, in the new film "La Mas Bella". Hayek, who is currently filming "Bandidas" in Durango, will team with Ecuadorian director & producer Víctor Rubén Rodríguez for the film 'La Mas Bella" (The Most Beautiful).

Rodriguez confirmed that the epic project will follow the life of Manuela Saenz, wife of Simon Bolivar and one of the leading South American historic figures of all time. Saenz died in 1856. The name of the film (“La más bella”) refers to what Bolivar called his wife.

The budget is estimated at around $70 million, $20 to be obtained by Hayek and her Ventanarrosa Productions. Hayek will also act as co-director and co-producer. The shoot will take place in scenic landscapes of Peru, Colombia, Cuba, Venezuela & Mexico, though no start date has been set.

It is also rumored that the Oscar nominated Mexican actress will bring friends Penelope Cruz and Antonio Banderas along to star.

Thanks to 'Roxana'.
