Heavy scenes of puppet love have made it into Paramount's "Team America: World Police", though the film's creators have had to trim it back a little.
According to The Hollywood Reporter and Paramount, filmmakers Matt Stone and Trey Parker received an R rating Tuesday for their political satire that features a cast of marionettes.
The rating comes after a drawn-out battle with the MPAA's ratings board over a scene that depicts simulated sex between puppets done to the tune of an Aerosmith song and involving the two in practically every sexual position imaginable. The board initially gave the film an NC-17 rating.
However, contractual obligations required the filmmakers to deliver an R-rated product to Paramount, so the production team submitted the scene with various alterations to the board ten times before it agreed to an R rating.
Parker & Stone's previous movie, the animated "South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut" went through similar difficulties with the MPAA, including controversy over a scene involving a European defecating porn video starring a lead character's mother.
Thus those wanting to see some uncut puppet love may have to wait for the DVD, hopefully the boys will be able to release it all then.
Thanks to 'KC'.
