Make-up effects designer Greg Nicotero ("Disturbia," "Serenity") has done it all, from the robotic wizadry of Transformers to the stomach-turning torture of the Hostel movies. He brought Frank Miller's "Sin City" to life on the silver screen and even made Salma Hayek scary in "From Dusk Till Dawn". And now it's time for killer fish, of course.
We spoke to Nicotero yesterday about his newest project with director Alex Aja, "Piranha 3-D". Nicotero just came off another Aja project, the Amy Smart flick Mirrors, which releases August 15th. "This summer we've got Mirrors coming out," Nicotero told us. "I saw the last 25 minutes which was great. Alex is just an amazing, amazing director."
"So we're probably going to start [Piranha] up shortly and we're developing some stuff with Joe Dante (director of the 1978 Piranha and the classic Gremlins) and Nick Garrison." [Piranha] is pretty straightforward. It's 'Girls Gone Wild' with boobs and blood and piranhas. You can't really mess that up."
