About.Com reports that Tim Robbins ("Mystic River") and Miranda Otto ("The Lord of the Rings") are in negotiations to play roles in Steven Spielberg's upcoming sci-fi epic "The War of the Worlds" with Tom Cruise.
Shooting begins mid-November on the contemporary adaptation of the 1898 HG Wells novel, and with just 10 weeks of pre-production been granted, casting is now quickly coming together.
Robbins is in negotiations to play astronomer Ogilvy in the Steven Spielberg-directed big-screen adaptation of H.G. Wells' classic novel, while Otto would play the wife of the main character, to be played by Tom Cruise. Dakota Fanning is set to appear as their daughter.
