Tom Cruise Still Up For "Iron Man"

The Megastar reports that whilst out promoting his 'Samurai' flick in the UK, Tom Cruise indicated to Empire Magazine he's still keen on playing the role of Iron Man in an adaptation of the Marvel superhero comic.

For those unfamiliar, Iron Man follows recovering alcoholic and billionaire industrialist Tony Stark, who wears an armoured breastplate to protect his injured heart.

Stark must battle threats to his company, to his city and his own personal demons which make him a rather dark character at times.

When the project first went into development a few years ago, both Cruise and Nicolas Cage were both attached to the lead role. Since then however the story & writers have changed altogether to the point Cage is no longer interested but Cruise is still keen on the part.

Of Iron Man Cruise says "He's a fascinating character, but we've got to figure out how it's going to work. And everyone is doing a Marvel character these days.

How do we make that new, create something fresh where it doesn't feel like: "Oh, here comes another superhero story"?".

Thanks to 'Phil'.
