Friday estimates have come in with the Wachowski's "Speed Racer" stalling at lower levels than many expected.

The kid-friendly action flick scored mediocre reviews, came in third, and took in $5.85 million on Friday. Even with the bump that normally happens on the weekend for PG-fare, the film looks like it'll hover with around a disappointing $20 million opening.

The heavily panned Ashton Kutcher/Cameron Diaz rom-com "What Happens in Vegas" scored $6.7 million on Friday and looks to end up with also a $20 million opening - a number along expected lines.

"Iron Man" still held strong in its second weekend with $15.3 million, leading many to estimate a weekend gross just shy of $50 million

  • a drop of around 45-50% which isn't too shabby at all. The superhero flick has already accumulated $141.9 million domestically and another $100 million internationally in its first eight days.
