Director Fred Schepisi is returning to Australian filmmaking with "The Last Man" reports Variety.
The $18.2 million follows Australian SAS soldiers in Vietnam and the cast includes David Wenham ("The Lord of the Rings," "300"), Guy Pearce ("The Time Machine," "Factory Girl"), Simon Baker (TV's "The Guardian," "The Devil Wears Prada"), Martin Henderson ("Torque," "The Ring"), Joel Edgerton ("Star Wars: Episode II") and Sam Worthington ("Avatar," "Terminator 4").
"The Last Man" will shoot in Queensland in the last quarter of this year and received the FFC's 40% budget rebate.
Schepsi's last Aussie film was the Lindy Chamberlin drama "Evil Angels" (aka. "A Cry in the Dark") in 1988.
