Chris Nolan's Next Project

By Garth Franklin Monday September 27th 2004 10:31AM

Christophernolan.net received an email from novelist Christopher Priest yesterday indicating that the "Memento" and "Batman Begins" director's movie adaptation of his book "The Prestige" still seems to be fairly high in Nolan's priorities.

The novel has been optioned to Newmarket for several years. Priest has seen an advance copy of Jonathan Nolan's screenplay, and says that "it is an extraordinary and brilliant script, a fascinating adaptation of my novel. Should the film be made, it seems likely it will be a return to the unusual and challenging material that made Memento so memorable.".

"The Prestige" follows two young late 19th century stage magicians who clash in the dark during the course of a fraudulent séance. From this moment on, their lives become webs of deceit and revelation as they vie to outwit and expose one another. Their rivalry will take them to the peaks of their careers, but with terrible consequences. In the course of pursuing each other's ruin, they will deploy all the deception their magicians' craft can command--the highest misdirection and the darkest science.

Full details are up here.

Thanks to 'Johannes'.
