"Deadwood" star Ian McShane is returning to television for NBC's drama pilot "Kings" says Reuters.

Loosely based on the story of King David, Aussie soap hunk Christopher Egan (TV's "Vanished," "Eragon," "Home and Away") stars as a pure-hearted young warrior who joins the court of the charismatic and authoritative King Silas (McShane).

Michael Green penned the series which is among a quartet of dramas expected to be announced NBC's upfront presentation on Wednesday - alongside the restarted "Knight Rider," the Christian Slater-led "My Worst Enemy", and Tom Fontana's "The Philanthropist".

"Chuck," "Life," "Heroes," "The Biggest Loser," "Celebrity Apprentice," "American Gladiators," "Friday Night Lights," "The Office," "My Name Is Earl," "Law & Order," "ER" and "30 Rock" are all expected to return next season.
