Dimension Films has set Usher Raymond to make his feature starring debut in an untitled drama being scripted by "American Dreams" showrunner Jonathan Prince according to Variety.
Usher, who just had the top-selling album "Confessions," will also serve as executive producer. No title exists yet, but there is already talk calling it an R&B version of "8 Mile." Usher will play a kid from the streets who finds himself through his music.
Usher previously appeared on screen in small roles in "The Faculty", "She's All That" and "Soul Food". Bob Weinstein says "Usher has clearly proven himself as a musical superstar. We have a longstanding relationship and know this film will showcase all of his talents in his first starring role.
