The CW announced early pickups of six series today with all of them set to return for the Fall season.
Most notable is both "Smallville" and the struggling (yet highly addictive) "Supernatural" will return to their usual Thursday night slot for an eighth and fourth season respectively.
Also coming back are the network's signature reality hit "America's Next Top Model", sitcom "Everybody Hates Chris", and the highly buzzed about freshman drama "Gossip Girl".
If there was a surprise it was that long-running but rating starved drama "One Tree Hill" will also be coming back for a sixth season.
Acclaimed comedy/drama "Reaper" and sitcom "Aliens in America" however look to have been cancelled but no official word on their future has been stated.
The network in general suffered a dizzying 25% drop off in viewers this season to an average of just 2.6 million per show. As a result the network has basically culled its comedy department, leaving the focus to settle on serial dramas and reality shows.
