Hotel Rwanda Wins Toronto

sp; The Hollywood ReporterThe Toronto International Film Festival wrapped over the weekend with "Jiminy Glick in Lalawood" starring comic Martin Short in his famous character closing out the festivities.

<a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr/film/brief_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000632760" target="_blank">The Hollywood Reporter</a> indicates that in regards to awards, war-themed movies took the top prizes with Terry George's British/South Africa/Italian co-production &quot;Hotel Rwanda&quot;  about an ordinary man selflessly saving lives during the 1994 Rwandan genocide, grabbing the fest's top nod - the People's Choice Award. 'Rwanda' beat out such titles as &quot;I, Claudia,&quot; &quot;Cape of Good Hope,&quot; &quot;Electric Shadows,&quot; &quot;House of Flying Daggers&quot; and &quot;Motorcycle Diaries&quot; for the  award.

Pete Travis' &quot;Omagh,&quot; earned the Discovery Award, which was voted on by about 750 media attending Toronto. The Irish-British co-production was about the 1998 bombing of an Irish market town. &quot;In My Father's Den,&quot; the first feature from New Zealand director Brad McGann, took the Fipresci prize.
