The Raid
Filming on “The Expendables 3” director Patrick Hughes’ remake of the Indonesian action hit “The Raid” is slated to begin in September. There is currently no word on casting. [Source: Deadline]

Easy Money
Swedish production group Tre Vanner is moving along with an English-language of the hit Swedish crime trilogy “Easy Money” (aka. “Snabba Cash”) after the rights reverted back to them from Warner Brothers. Screenwriters Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken will pen the script for the remake.

Director Daniel Espinosa (“Safe House”) and star Joel Kinnaman (“Robocop”) launched their careers of the success of the first film which a man who becomes a drug runner in order to maintain his double life, his fate becomes tied to both a fugitive and a mafia enforcer. [Source: THR]

Lars von Trier
Producer Peter Aalbaek Jensen says that controversial filmmaker Lars von Trier (“Melancholia,” “Nymphomaniac”) is talking about making a “Trier version of an action movie.”

This comes on top of word the other day that von Trier is already at work on a horror script tentatively titled “Detroit”. Sounds like the director is going borderline mainstream. [Source: Screen]

Star Wars: Episode VII
A photo has emerged of a note from J.J. Abrams to the cast and crew of the upcoming “Star Wars Episode VII”. It’s basically a bit of a motivational statement and a transcript can be seen below (via Screen Crush):

“Dearest Cast and Crew. What an honor it is to work beside all of you on Star Wars Ep VII. I can’t thank you enough, for all work past and future. Let’s take good care of not just ourselves, but of each other. Amazing, but true: the world awaits this film. Let’s give ’em something GREAT. xo JJ”
