Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda
Fox 2000 has announced plans for an adaptation of Becky Albertelli’s popular debut YA novel “Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda” which is described as a John Hughes-style coming-of-age, coming-out story. Isaac Aptaker & Elizabeth Berger will adapt the script.
The story follows Simon Spier, a sixteen-year-old not-so-openly gay student. When an email written by Simon falls into the wrong hands, his secret is at risk of being made public and the change-averse Simon is forced to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before he’s pushed out. He also must do it in a way that won’t alienate his friends, compromise himself or ruin a shot at happiness with the most confusing, adorable guy he hasn’t even met yet. [Source: Deadline]
Chinese actress Li Bingbing (“Resident Evil: Retribution,” “Transformers: Age of Extinction”) will star in Fundamental Films and Stan Lee Global Entertainment’s “Realm,” a new superhero project based on an original idea by Lee. The plot of the film is being kept under wraps.
Alex Litvak (“Predators,” “The Three Muskateers”) will write the screeplay while Bingbing, Gill Champion and Gregory Ouanhon will produce. In a statement, Lee says: “What a kick it has been to create our first Chinese female superhero, and an empowering one at that.” [Source: THR]
