A new photo has emerged of Rooney Mara and Ben Mendelsohn in Benedict Andrews’ “Una” (formerly titled “Blackbird”). Tara Fitzgerald and Riz Ahmed also star.

Adapted from Scottish playwright David Harrower’s Olivier Award-winning play, the movie centers on an illicit and damaged love affair and its devastating consequences. The film is currently in post and doesn’t have a release date. [Source: Screen]

Producer Amy Pascal has acquired Michael Diliberti’s pitch “Athena” which follows a troubled young woman who is recruited by a covert agency and learns she is the descendant of the fabled goddess of wisdom and war. Rachel O’Connor and Bryan Haas would also produce. [Source: Deadline]

Nest 3D
Kellan Lutz and Kelsey Grammer are set to join Li Bingbing in the 3D killer spider sci-fi action thriller “Nest”. Kimble Rendall (“Bait 3D”) directs the Chinese-Australian co-production which is now in pre-production in Australia.

The story follows a group of scientists exploring an ancient labyrinth who must fight off a swarm of deadly, man-eating funnel web spiders if they hope to survive. [Source: Heat Vision]

Our Kind of Traitor
Lionsgate has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to StudioCanal’s Liam Neeson-led thriller “The Commuter”. Liam Neeson plays an ordinary businessman on his daily commute home, only to get caught up in a criminal conspiracy. A Summer 2017 release is planned.

They’ve also acquired Susanna White’s adaptation of John Le Carre’s “Our Kind of Traitor” starring Ewan McGregor and Damian Lewis and a mid-2016 release is planned. The story follows a young Oxford academic and his barrister girlfriend on a Caribbean holiday where they bump into a Russian oligarch and end up on a European trip filled with Russian mafia and MI6 agents. Q
Allan Loeb (“Collateral Beauty”) is set to pen a film adaptation of the Evan Mandery time travel novel “Q” which is set up at Lionsgate. Matt Tolmach, Erwin Stoff and Francis Lawrence are producing.

The story follows a thirty-year-old guy who meets the woman of his dreams and life could not be better, but right before his wedding, he gets a knock at his door and a sixty-six year-old man walks in and says do not marry this girl because she will ruin your life. [Source: Deadline]
