Sony Pictures and Animal Logic Entertainment have confirmed that the live-action film adaptation of Beatrix Potter’s “Peter Rabbit” will be shot in Sydney, Australia with the project getting an injection of regional government finance from the Made in NSW fund.

The film is a hybrid of live action and animation, with Will Gluck directing and both Rose Byrne and James Corden starring in the film which will begin shooting in January 2017. Byrne will perform in a live action role, while Corden will provide the voice of Mr McGregor. [Source: Variety]

Untitled Detroit Riots Film
Actresses Kaitlyn Dever (“Short Term 12”) and Hannah Murray (“Game Of Thrones”) have been cast in Kathryn Bigelow’s untitled Detroit Riots movie at Annapurna Pictures. They join the previously announced Boyega, Jacob Latimore, Algee Smith, Will Poulter, Ben O”oole and Jack Reynor.

The story is set against the riots that took place over five days in 1967 and explores systemic racism in urban Detroit. Mark Boal penned the script and filming aims to kick off this Sumer. No studio is attached at this point. [Source: Deadline]

“Dark Night” and “Memphis” writer/director Tim Sutton has been hired to adapt and direct the crime thriller film adaptation of Frank Bill’s novel “Donnybrook” for Rumble Films.

The story follows two men as they try to get to the Donnybrook, a legendary backwoods bare knuckle brawl where the winner gets $100,000. [Source: Variety]

Scream Queens
FOX has released a new trailer for the second season of its series “Scream Queens” which is slated to premiere on Tuesday September 20th. John Stamos, Taylor Lautner and James Earl join the cast for the second season which shifts the action to bizarre medical cases under observation at the hospital where the girls of last season are now stuck working.
