The first photos have been released from Brendan Muldowney’s “Pilgrimage,” the medieval Ireland set project starring Richard Armitage, Jon Bernthal and Tom Holland which just wrapped production in Belgium and Ireland.
The story centers on a group of monks who undertake a pilgrimage to transport their monastery’s holiest relic to Rome. When the true significance of the relic is revealed, the journey becomes much more treacherous. [Source: Heat Vision]
Untitled Female 21 Jump Street Spin-Off
“Bob’s Burgers” scribes Lizzie and Wendy Molyneux have signed on to pen a script for the female-centric “21 Jump Street” project at Sony Pictures.
The pair have come onboard in addition to “Broad City” writers Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs who’re also penning a script, albeit a different ones. Aniello and Downs were first, but the studio liked the Molyneux’s pitch enough they’re moving forward with dual-track development. [Source: THR]
Escobar: Paradise Lost
Radius has finally set a June 26th U.S. limited release date for the Benicio Del Toro and Josh Hutcherson-led “Escobar: Paradise Lost”. The film will open in two dozen markets a full six months after its originally announced mid-January release date.
The film combines the true story of Colombia’s drug king Pablo Escobar with a love story between a young Canadian surfer. It played at Telluride and Toronto last year to great effect. [Source: Variety]
The Magnificent Seven
Billy Slaughter (“Focus”) has joined the cast of Antoine Fuqua’s “The Magnificent Seven” remake at MGM. Slaughter joins a cast list that includes Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, Matt Bomer, Haley Bennett and Peter Sarsgaard.
The remake of the 1960 film follows on a disparate group of seven gunslingers who are hired by a woman (Bennett) to defend her town from bandits led by a robber baron. John Lee Hancock and “True Detective” creator Nic Pizzolatto penned the script. [Source: Heat Vision]
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Jakks Pacific Inc. has signed a licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products to make and sell a line of toys and products based on the upcoming “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” with the product line to launch next spring.
Warner Bros. also renewed Jakks’ contract for the full DC Comics franchise domestically and internationally. The multi-category license includes large-scale action figures and vehicles, accessories, games, wagons and more. [Source: Biz Journals]
