Syfy has announced an April 18th premiere date for the thirteen-episode second season of its critically-acclaimed time-travel thriller series “12 Monkeys”. Jon Bernthal, Graham Greene, Julia Jones and Gil Birmingham are set to join Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen in “Sicario” scribe Taylor Sheridan’s directorial debut “Wind River” for Thunder Road, Film 44 and Savvy Media Holdings. Basil Iwanyk, Peter Berg and Matthew George are producing and shooting has begun in Park City, Utah.
The story follows a rookie female FBI agent (Olsen) who teams up with a veteran local game tracker with a haunted past (Renner) to investigate a murder on a remote Native American reservation in the hope of avenging the girl’s death. [Source: Deadline]
The Paper Magician
Disney Pictures have picked up the film rights to Charlie N. Holmberg’s young adult novel trilogy “The Paper Magician”. Allison Shearmur (“The Hunger Games,” “Cinderella”) will produce.
The story follows Ceony Twill, a young girl who is a student at the Tagis Praff School for the Magically Inclined. Disappointed that she has been demoted to learn paper magic despite her dreams of working with metal, she must tap into the hidden potential of her new powers when an all-powerful evil magician rises and her mentor’s life is on the line. “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl” director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon is set to helm an adaptation of Delia Ephron’s novel “Siracusa” for Working Title. Ephron herself will pen the adaptation while Eric Fellner, Tim Bevan and Liza Chasin will produce.
The story follows two couples and a child who take a vacation on the sun-drenched coast of the Ionian Sea in Italy. The novel will be published in July. [Source: Variety]
