News Bits: Martian, Edge, Exorcism, Boy

The Martian
Total Film has posted a bunch of new photos from 20th Century Fox and director Ridley Scott’s science fiction action adventure “The Martian”. Matt Damon stars in the film as an astronaut presumed dead after a fierce storm on Mars. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity to stay alive. Max Martini (“Pacific Rim”) and Ryan Kwanten (“True Blood”) will star in Shane Black’s Kansas-set western drama pilot “Edge” for Amazon. Black will pen, direct and executive produce.

Martini plays Josiah Hedges (aka. Edge), who goes on a bloody mission of vengeance when his younger brother is killed by a group of his former Union army comrades lead by his nemesis, a prominent senator and psychotic sadist named Merritt Harknett (Kwanten). [Source: Variety

Exorcism: Live
Destination America is set to host the first live televised exorcism in the history of the United States. “Exorcism: Live!” will debut on October 30th and will take place at “the original Exorcist House” in the suburbs of St. Louis where exorcisms were performed on Roland Doe. [Source: Deadline

Battling Boy
Patrick Osborne, coming off the success of his Oscar-winning animated short film “Feast,” has been tapped to direct the film adaptation of Paul Pope’s graphic novel “Battling Boy” for Plan B Entertainment and Paramount Pictures.

The story follows a twelve-year-old demigod who must rid the dystopian sprawl of Acropolis of monsters and demons following the death of its protector. Jeremy Kleiner and Sarah Esberg are producing. [Source: Variety]
