News Bits: Hulu, Cage, Day, Godzilla, LOL

Under a new agreement with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution, Hulu is now the exclusive subscription VOD home to the full run of a bunch of FOX’s animated series starting with “Bob’s Burgers” and “The Cleveland Show”. In coming weeks, the complete libraries of “Futurama” and “American Dad” will also be added. [Source: Variety]

Luke Cage
Marvel Entertainment and Netflix have announced that actress-turned-director Lucy Liu is directing the second season premiere of “Luke Cage”.

Liu’s first directing credit was the 2011 short film “Meena” which she followed up with an episode of “Graceland” and four episodes of “Elementary” in which she also stars. The new season returns in 2018. [Source: Netflix]

Best Day of My Life
Renee Zellweger, Common, Isabella Rossellini, Simon Baker, Taylor Kinney, and Gus Birney have all joined the cast of Sarah Jessica Parker’s romantic drama “Best Day of My Life” which begins filming this week in New York City.

Parker portrays a jazz vocalist in New York City after she receives a diagnosis that shatters her world as she prepare for an upcoming world tour. Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi are producing. [Source: Variety]

Godzilla: King Of The Monsters
“The Walking Dead” actress Elizabeth Ludlow will join Michael Dougherty’s upcoming monster movie “Godzilla: King Of The Monsters” for Legendary Pictures.

Production is underway on the project which boasts a cast that includes Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Ken Watanabe, O’shea Jackson jr. and Zhang Ziyi. [Source: Deadline]

Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud
Lionsgate has announced an August 3rd launch date for Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud streaming service which will boast a slate of original scripted and unscripted comedy series, stand-up specials, licensed programming, and live broadcasts.

The Laugh Out Loud app will be available for free on iOS and Android, users will have the option to pay $2.99 per month for an ad-free viewing experience and access to binge-watch all episodes of current seasons. [Source: Variety]
