You Were Never Really Here
A first look photo is out of actor Joaquin Phoenix in “We Need To Talk About Kevin” director Lynne Ramsey’s new feature “You Were Never Really Here”.

Phoenix plays Joe, a war veteran who takes it upon himself to clean up the sex trade in his city. The story is based on the Jonathan Ames novel and the film will be released later this year through Amazon Studios following a debut at Cannes. [Source: The Playlist

2017 Cannes Film Festival
The 2017 Cannes Film Festival’s ‘Directors Fortnight’ sidebar has been announced with several new projects set to join the French film festival action.

Amongst the titles on show are Claire Denis’ “Un Beau Soleil Interieur” starring Juliette Binoche and Gerard Depardieu, “Tangerine” director Sean Baker’s “The Florida Project” with Willem Dafoe, and new works from Abel Ferrera and Jonas Carpignano along with sundance fave “Patti Cake$”. Silver Wings
“Hamilton” director Thomas Kail has been hired to direct World War II female pilots drama “Silver Wings” for Fox 2000. Kail & Michael Sugar will produce.

Based on Katherine Sharp Landdeck’s upcoming novel, the story centers on the Women Airforce Service Pilots, the first women to ever fly for the U.S. military. The pilots were largely ignored until 2009, when they were granted the Congressional Gold Medal and officially recognized as military veterans. [Source: Variety]

Mission: Impossible 6
Christopher McQuarrie has taken to social media to post a photo of himself, Tom Cruise, and a moustached Henry Cavill in Paris filming scenes for “Mission: Impossible 6”. McQuarrie also indicates the still mysterious big stunt of the film, the one Cruise has spent nearly a year practising for, will film soon.
