The Book of Life
The first photos are out from Jorge Gutierrez’s stylized 3-D animated feature “The Book of Life” which deals with the Mexican Day of the Dead holiday.

Guillermo del Toro produced the story about love triangle among three childhood friends Manolo (Diego Luna), Maria (Zoe Saldana) and Joaquin (Channing Tatum) who are stirred up after the unpredictable gods wager on which man will win Maria’s heart. [Source: USA Today]

The Good Luck Of Right Now
“Little Miss Sunshine” directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris have dropped out of directing the film adaptation of “Silver Linings Playbook” author Matthew Quick’s “The Good Luck Of Right Now” at DreamWorks.

Currently in pre-production, the departure is said to be due to creative disagreements over the ensembles casting process. Mike White penned the script of the adaptation. [Source: Deadline]

Dracula Untold
Giant screen exhibitor IMAX have announced that they will digitally re-master and release Universal and Legendary’s origins story “Dracula Untold” internationally starting October 2nd 2014.

The Gary Shore-directed Luke Evans-starrer, about the original man to become the world’s most famous vampire, will also score an IMAX run on North American screens from October 17th. [Source: THR]

Love Letters to the Dead
Fox 2000 has optioned the film rights to Ava Dellaira’s recently released debut novel “Love Letters to the Dead”. Dellaira will adapt the script, while Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen (“The Fault in Our Stars”) will produce.

The story follows a high school student whose beloved older sister has died. She unexpectedly finds catharsis in an English assignment to write a letter to a dead person. In this case, it’s an ongoing series of ever more revealing letters to a group of passed away rock stars, poets, and popular icons. [Source: Deadline]
