The much anticipated “X-Men: Days of Future Past” looks to be headed to a massive box-office opening.
The first tracking figures are in with the movie headed for a $125 million domestic opening over the four-day Memorial Day holiday weekend. The film also launches day and date worldwide (including China) so expect its numbers to clock up fast.
That opening is about on par with the biggest opener in the series to date, “X-Men: The Last Stand” back in 2006, which scored $123 million over the four-day holiday weekend.
It’s also considerably better than “X-Men: First Class” which opened to $55.1 million across three days back in 2011.
