Several smaller films have released trailers today starting with “Zoe,” the new project from “Equals” and “Newness” director Drake Doremus. Amazon Studios is releasing the title in which Ewan McGregor plays an artificial intelligence engineer navigating a romantic relationship with his colleague and synthetic creation Zoe (Lea Seydoux).
Then there’s Ethan Hawke’s latest directorial effort, the country music drama “Blaze,” which saw its leading man Ben Dickey win a Special Jury Prize for Achievement in Acting for his turn as musician Blaze Foley, a singer-songwriter from Austin who found success in the late 1970s and 1980s and ended being murdered in a tragic shooting. Sam Rockwell, Wyatt Russell, and Steve Zahn also star.
Finally there’s “How It Ends,” a new apocalypse thriller with Theo James, Forest Whitaker, Kat Graham and Kerry Bishe. The story follows a mysterious apocalyptic event that throws the world into chaos, and a young father sets out to be reunited with his pregnant wife all the way on the other side of the country.
“Zoe” launches on Amazon Prime Video on July 20th, “Blaze” will open in select theaters this September, and “How It Ends” hits Netflix on July 13th.
