New Trailers Freaks Slice The Spell

A couple of new film trailers for smaller genre projects have arrived today starting with “Freaks,” a new sci-fi thriller set to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival next month. Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein co-direct.

Emile Hirsch plays a disturbed father who locks his 7-year-old daughter (Lexy Kolker) in a house, warning her of grave dangers outside. But the mysterious Mr. Snowcone (Bruce Dern) convinces the girl to escape and join him on a quest for freedom and revenge.

Next comes “Slice,” a comedy from filmmaker Austin Vesely and musical artist Chance the Rapper who’ve collaborated on this tale set in a creepy small town where pizza delivery boys are slain on the job. Two brave survivors set out to catch the killer.

Chance plays Dax Lycander, a werewolf and ex-Chinese food delivery guy who gets caught up in the murder spree. Zazie Beetz, Paul Scheer and Joe Kerry co-star in the film which A24 will release sometime this year.

Finally there’s the preview for Amit Dubey’s “The Spell, a new Cambodian horror film about a couple who move to the countryside when the wife starts to notice strange and macabre sights and soon finds an old letter that reveals her husband’s secretive past – just as he’s paralyzed and a dark spirit threatens to take him.
