The U.S. election is over and the business of running the country is now the order of the day in politics. Before President-Elect Trump takes office in January though, there’s still a few weeks left of U.S. President Barack Obama’s final term in office and as part of that swansong comes a new biopic which scored a new trailer today.
Not to be confused with “Southside With You” earlier this year which dealt with Obama’s courtship of Michelle in 1989, Vikram Gandhi’s “Barry” is set a few years earlier – 1981 – at a time when Obama was just a Columbia University junior year student seeing where life would lead next.
In a racially charged environment, Barry finds himself struggling to maintain a series of increasingly strained relationships with his Kansas-born mother, his estranged Kenyan father, and his classmates. The film hits Netflix on December 16th.
