New Trailer: Dee Rees’ “Mudbound”

Netflix’s best shot at awards glory this year is “Mudbound,” the latest effort of “Pariah” and “Bessie” director/co-writer Dee Rees. Following much acclaim at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, the streaming giant snapped up the film and is poised to release it both in cinemas and on its service on November 17th.

Set in the rural American South during World War II, the epic story follows two families pitted against one another by a ruthless social hierarchy, yet bound together by the shared farmland of the Mississippi Delta.

Carey Mulligan, Jason Clarke, Jason Mitchell, Mary J. Blige, Rob Morgan, Jonathan Banks and Garrett Hedlund co-star in the film which puts the focus on the friendship between Mitchell and Hedlund’s characters whose bond challenges the brutal realities of the Jim Crow South.
