Two wild rumors have gone online today via Latino Review, both are highly speculative so take them with a big grain of salt, but both could well be confirmed or shot down very soon with the rapid approach of the Warners panel at this year’s San Diego Comic Con.
First up, one film not included in Warners’ previously announced slate of upcoming DC Cinematic Universe superhero films is a standalone Batman movie starring Ben Affleck reprising the role he first plays in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”.
That said, a project of this type is expected and today’s report suggests that the film is still happening, is targeting a late 2018 release, and has a title – “The Batman”. The report indicates that “Argo” scribe Chris Terrio, who also penned ‘Batman v Superman’, is set to work on “The Batman” which would star Affleck and might even be directed by him.
The other rumor is that the DCCU will boast not one, but at least two Green Lanterns – the classic Hal Jordan, the John Stewart version made popular by the animated series, and potentially even the Guy Gardner version. In fact the site claims the studio may have already cast at least one of those (possibly Chris Pine as Jordan) with the actor(s) slated to make an appearance at the Comic Con Panel in a few weeks.
For now, it’s a wait and see what happens in San Diego.
