New “Superman,” “Odd Thomas” Casting Talk

Yesterday came word that Edgar Ramirez was up for the role of the villain in the upcoming “Superman” reboot at Warner Bros. Pictures.

Today, Deadline is reporting that Michael Shannon (“Revolutionary Road,” “Boardwalk Empire”) is also up for the role, and like the previous report doesn’t go into specifics about which particular bad guy he might play.

Meanwhile “The Blind Side” star Lily Collins has been offered the role of Stormy Llewellyn in Stephen Sommers’ adaptation of Dean Koontz’s 2003 novel “Odd Thomas” for Fusion Films says Variety.

The story follows Odd Thomas (Anton Yelchin), an optimistic twenty-year-old short-order cook who can see both dead people and the shadowy figures called ‘bodachs’ that appear around death and disaster.

When bodachs seem to be swarming around a diner customer he nicknames ‘Fungus Man’, Odd is convinced the man is connected to a terrible catastrophe about to occur.

Shooting kicks off May 2nd in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Sommers, John Baldecchi and Howard Kaplan are producing.
