Several new reports up Schmoes Know have suggested some big things in store for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, even though the rumors in some cases have already been denied by those involved.
First off they suggests that The Elders, a group of ancient beings who are the last of each of their races, will play a big part in various upcoming Marvel films.
The report indicates Kurt Russell’s Ego the Living Planet (and Star-Lord’s father) is one of these Elders and the group will play a significant role in the ‘Guardians’ sequel and other films leading up to “Avengers: Infinity War” in which Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord will have a “sizeable role” and be a “major player”.
It indicates The Elders will be the reason why Star-Lord seeks out Ego in the first place, with Benicio del Toro’s The Collector and Elizabeth Debicki’s Ayesha being the catalyst. This is despite Gunn previously saying The Collector would not appear in the ‘Guardians’ sequel, and that Ayesha is a powerful golden High Priestess who leads a group of genetically perfect people called The Sovereign.
The report also suggests the other two known Elders will be played by Sylvester Stallone and Sharon Stone, but their characters have not been named as yet. This all follows on from a scoop they published last week that suggests Jeff Goldblum’s The Grandmaster in “Thor: Ragnarok” will be an Elder, as will Sam Neill’s currently unspecified role in the film.
They also published one yesterday which indicates Logan Marshall-Green’s villain in the upcoming “Spider-Man: Homecoming” will be Aunt May’s new boyfriend and will be more of a problem in Peter’s personal life as opposed to the two Spidey villains Vulture (Michael Keaton) and Shocker (Bokeem Woodbine). You can also chuck in a “surprise appearance from a character that is central to the Spider-Man mythos, one who will play a larger role in upcoming films.”
All of this is pure rumor for now. So is there anything more solid? Filmmaker Taika Waititi offers a more concrete bit with a photo featuring a colored keyboard with the work Korg on it – in the comics Korg is a giant rock warrior of the Kronan alien race and was last seen getting smashed to bits at the start of “Thor: The Dark World”. Could he be returning for ‘Ragnarok’?
Korg is a key part of the Planet Hulk storyline of the comics. Exiled to the Red King’s planet of Sakaaar, he ends up forced into gladiatorial combat just like Hulk. Since we know Thor and Hulk will fight in the gladiatorial arena in the film (much like in the comic), Korg could end up in a re-match with Thor there.
Marvel Studios is still in the midst of production on “Thor: Ragnarok” in Australia, “Spider-Man: Homecoming” just wrapped filming in New York City,” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is currently in post-production.
UPDATE: So much for the Elders parts of the rumor, ‘Guardians’ director James Gunn has shot them down just like that.
Where do you guys get this nonsense? Who are all the people running around giving fake inside scoops to journalists? https://t.co/9abS5jGYcP
