Lionsgate’s upcoming reboot of the “Highlander” franchise is moving forward thanks to a new script draft from “Colony” co-creator Ryan Condal which everyone is reportedly very happy with and is ripe for potential sequels should it be a hit.
The project, which has been in development on and off for a decade, is set to begin pre-production later this year. Chad Stahelski will direct the film once he wraps the third “John Wick” feature which is currently filming.
The 1980s fantasy starred starring Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery and Clancy Brown as immortal beings, hunting down one another through the centuries and collecting more power. The film spawned four sequels and three television series.
Neal H. Moritz and Peter Davis are producing. Condal is also developing a drama series around “Conan the Barbarian” for Amazon Studios.
