New Rumors On Gleeson’s “Star Wars” Role

We all know Domhnall Gleeson plays a major character in the upcoming “Star Wars” trilogy, and a new report today has suggested what that character might be and how it will have a big impact on the franchise as a whole.

Making Star Wars posted up the story which ties back into a lengthy synopsis for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” that seemingly leaked the other week. According to their numerous sources, they claim Gleeson will play the son of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in the film, and he’s an Imperial officer who is hunting the AWOL Stormtrooper Finn (John Boyega).

It seems the Rebel Alliance and the remains of the Galactic Empire have been in a Cold War state for much of the period since “Return of the Jedi” with Luke having gone missing. Part of the reason for the stalemate is due to each side having a ‘super weapon’ capable of destroying the entire galaxy.

Gleeson’s character, a former Rebel who defected to the Empire, is said to be playing both sides in an effort to disarm the super weapons held by both of them. He succeeds, but in doing so he unintentionally turns the war hot. With outright destruction off the table, so begins a more regular war for control of planets and territory – a setup that could ensure “Star Wars” stories for many years to come.

How much of this will come true… we’ll see in December.
