“Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” has officially been moved up two days to a Wednesday July 11th, 2007 release.
Regular scooper ‘Zephyr says “There could be a number of reasons why: to gain the upper-hand on the preceding tentpole Transformers and two extra days to push it up to $300 million. Warner Bros. may want to give it extra space from the release of the final book “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” coming out on the 21st of July. However, the hope for a $100M+ three day weeekend opening is probably out of sight now.”
In other news some trailer dates have been announced with several major late Fall releases showing off their first glimpses with upcoming major Summer tentpoles.
Will Smith’s post-apocalyptic “I Am Legend” will premiere its first trailer in front of “Ocean’s Thirteen” next Friday with the online debut just beforehand.
A combo trailer of “Alvin and the Chipmunks,” “Horton Hears a Who” and “Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium” are set to show before “The Simpsons Movie” on July 27th.
A final “The Simpsons Movie” trailer will air with “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer”, and the James Wan-directed Kevin Bacon thriller “Death Sentence” will get a trailer in front of “Live Free or Die Hard.”
Finally, “Alien vs. Predator 2: Survival of the Fittest” will premiere its teaser trailer at the San Diego Comic Con in July.
