A year out from release, 20th Century Fox have released a new official still from Justin Kurzel’s upcoming “Assassin’s Creed” film based on the popular video game series. Stars Michael Fasbender and Ariane Labed appear in the photo in their Assassins garb laying on a rooftop and you can see it below.
Marion Cotillard, Michael K. Williams, Jeremy Irons and Brendan Gleeson also star in the film and speaking with EW, Fassbender said he had never played the game series before taking the role but assures fans it will be very accurate:
“I hadn’t played it before these guys approached me. I’ve played it since mainly to get an idea of the physicality of the character. We’re striving to find something special. We believe the whole concept around it is special and want to service that the best we can. The fans are really passionate: very specific and they expect accuracy and historical detail. We’re really trying to capitalize and feed on and enjoy the fun element. We’re working hard to make this something special.”
The game has Fassebender as a modern day man who uses a revolutionary technology to unlock his genetic memories. He is then able to experience the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain.
A recent viral site indicates something is happening in March in various world cities that ties into the film, most likely a teaser trailer launch.
