As we already know, IMAX Corporation and Paramount Pictures will preview “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” in approximately 300 North American IMAX® theatres on Friday, December 16th – five days in advance of the film’s wide release on December 21st.
Now, they’re issued a press release that the film will open internationally on approximately 200 IMAX screens beginning December 14th.
That date means that several markets are receiving an early IMAX-only window release – six days in the Netherlands, five days in the UK, three days in France and Poland, two days in Korea, Spain and Taiwan, and one day in various other countries worldwide.
Approximately 30 minutes of the film’s 132 minute runtime was shot with IMAX® cameras. This footage, spread throughout the film, will fill the entire IMAX screen. Regular cinemas however will only see this footage in the more standard 2.35 aspect ratio presentation.
