New Line Cinema is nearing a deal for worldwide rights to the Will Smith-led “Collateral Beauty”.
Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (“Me and Earl and the Dying Girl”) directs and Allan Loeb pens the film about a New York advertising executive (Smith) who experiences a deep personal tragedy. His colleagues devise an unconventional plan to break him out of his depression, it works in an unexpected way.
Hugh Jackman was previously attached to the lead role but exited due to scheduling conflicts with the third stand-alone “The Wolverine ” film. Rooney Mara was also attached to the project but is no longer involved.
Filming begins in the fall in New York. Smith will next be be seen in the NFL drama “Concussion”.
