New Joker Photos Ex Dc Chief Talk

The more that’s coming out about Todd Phillips’ “Joker” film starring Joaquin Phoenix, the less it’s sounding like an average superhero film – and that’s a good thing. As we know Phoenix plays the iconic Batman villain in a $55 million origin story tale that will be dark, gritty, and very “Taxi Driver” in tone.

In fact Diane Nelson, the former head of DC Entertainment, said on Twitter the other day that she believes “Joker” is the type of movie Warners should have been making for years: “LOVE IT! Great story, great actor, specific and string vision from talented director. What DC should have been doing since Nolan, even if die hard fans struggle with his vision.”

She isn’t the only one. Scott Snyder, who has penned some of the most acclaimed “Batman” stories in recent years, also says on Twitter: “I feel like it SHOULDN’T work and yet…I’m genuinely crazy excited for it. It seems daring, weird and dark in a way that could be visionary. In the end, the worst offense w/Joker would be playing it safe, boring, so I’m all in for something like this.”

The film has also released a first official look at Zazie Beetz’s character Sophie Dumond today which you can see below. Additionally set photos are out of Phoenix filming scenes in a subway, scenes that confirm Thomas Wayne is running for mayor in the film, and that there’s easter eggs galore in much of the signage around the film’s take on Gotham City. “Joker” is released on October 4th of 2019.
