New “IT” Art Teases Key Story Change

As part of EW’s Comic Con preview issue, New Line Cinema has released some new photos and concept art from the upcoming “IT” movie based on the iconic novel by Stephen King.

The gallery also reveals one key change to the story – the famed opening sequence with Pennywise in the storm drain and Georgie Denbrough meeting his fate. In the new film, Georgie’s body is never found which is what motivates his brother Bill (Jaeden Lieberher) to find him.

The film’s director Andres Muschietti also reveals that the heart of IT’s lair is a giant cistern – a circular space that resembles a cooling tower. The next trailer for the film is expected to arrive later this month. The movie opens September 8th.
