Netflix has released a second trailer for its historical epic “Outlaw King” which sees the re-teaming of “Hell or High Water” director David MacKenzie and star Chris Pine.
The film premiered at Toronto in early September to mixed reviews and much talk about a frontal nude scene from Pine. In the weeks following, MacKenzie recut the film – excising a full twenty minutes from the narrative (but not the frontal scene). That shorter cut then screened at the London Film Festival to a much better reaction.
MacKenzie penned the film about medieval Scottish King Robert the Bruce. Set in the years after rebel leader William Wallace’s death, Robert is transformed from defeated nobleman to reluctant King, to outlaw hero over the course of a year.
He seizes the crown and leads a small group of surviving rebels to save his country from the oppressive English occupation – facing the wrath of the world’s strongest army lead by the ferocious King Edward I and his volatile son, the Prince of Wales.
Stephen Dillane, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Florence Pugh, Billy Howle, Tony Curran, Callan Mulvey and James Cosmo co-star. The film is set to be released in select theaters on November 9th as well as on Netflix.
