The first live-action “Pokemon” movie, “Detective Pikachu,” surprised with its first trailer a few months back. With one clip, a film that was either not on people’s radar or even outright dreaded turned the buzz around and has become one of the unexpectedly most anticipated films of the Summer.
Today, the film’s leading voice star Ryan Reynolds has taken to Twitter to not only announce the premiere of the second trailer tomorrow but to show off a featurette which looks at his thorough preparation and hard work to take on the part of the investigative yellow furball. Blake Lively also makes an appearance in the video.
Justice Smith stars as a teen whose father is kidnapped which leads him to Pikachu and a young journalist (Kathryn Newton) who team up in order to find him. Ken Watanabe, Suki Waterhouse, Rita Ora and Bill Nighy co-star. Rob Letterman (“Goosebumps”) helms the film and co-wrote with Nicole Perlman. Mary Parent and Cale Boyter are producing. “Pokemon: Detective Pikachu” opens in cinemas on May 11th.
