One character who hasn’t appeared in much of the promotional material for “Transformers: The Last Knight” thus far is that of Hot Rod, the Autobot who reportedly plays a key role in the sequel.
EW now has new details on the character and his involvement in Michael Bay’s latest action opus. Turns out the character, who previously transformed into a 1963 Citroen DS but is now a Lamborghini Centenario, has been secretly protecting Laura Haddock’s Oxford professor character Viviane Wembly.
Wembly’s blood holds a genetic secret that has the potential to either destroy or save the world and ties back to the time of King Arthur. In the 1986 animated film, Hot Rod became Rodimus Prime in the wake of the death of Optimus Prime – that storyline isn’t expected to play out here.
“Transformers: The Last Knight” opens on June 23rd.
