Filming on 20th Century Fox’s “Gambit,” the upcoming “X-Men” spin-off starring Channing Tatum as the cajun mutant, is slated to begin this October in New Orleans.
Showbiz 411 reports that the Rupert Wyatt-directed project will be shot under the code name “Chess” and an apparent casting breakdown has leaked for numerous characters that are currently being cast:
It’s unclear the size of these roles or if these will be based on comics characters. One will be Louis, a 40s-50s elegant and intelligent entrepreneur with an unexpected dark side. Another is Vera, a woman in her mid 20s-early 30s who is beautiful, smart, tough and wild.
Next is Nash and Wilhelm who could be related. Nash is mid 20s-early 30s, Wilhelm is in his 30s. Nash is a potent threat and the heir to his mother’s business, Wilhelm is a dangerous street criminal who is loyal and violently protective. Then there’s Nonna who is an uptight, corporate woman who is also vicious and sexual and the same age as Nash
Boris is a charming Hispanic male in his 20s, Clarissa is an expressive mixed-race girl between 10 and 12 years old, Wolfgang is a French male criminals in his 40s, and Howard is a refined European mobster in his 50s who speaks French.
The last batch is the soulful and sensitive Wes, a 40-something professional thief named Fritz, the dim-witted Gary, the orphaned street kid Ben, and the hired gun Joe.
The film itself doesn’t come cheap from the looks of it. Comic Book.com is indicating that the film’s budget could be pushing around $150 million.
